What to visit
Ursino Castle
One of the main sights near Principe di francalanza is Ursino Castle:
it was built by Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor, in the 13th century. It was an important building during the Sicilian Vespers, as a parliament, and afterwards as the seat of the Aragonese.
Today it is Catania Civic Museum, where you can find the Biscari and Benedettini collections.
Giovanni Verga House Museum
Giovanni Verga was one of the most important Italian writers.
The Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 am to 16 pm. On Wednesday and on Friday it is open up until 6 pm. It is closed on Sunday and on Monday.

Saint Agatha Cathedral
This is an absolute must-see if you want to fully visit and understand the city. It's the main religious building in Catania as well as the seat of the Archbishop.
The Cathedral is dedicated to saint Agatha, patron of Catania, and is located in the Duomo square, in the very heart of the city.
